So last week I got a dog. Not just any dog. Walter, the wonder puppy – an eight week old chocolate labradoodle (lab-poodle mix), from Hale’s Labradoodles. Walter is now our upStart program mascot.

We’ve been talking a lot lately about the difference between improvement and innovation, and it occurs to me that every day since I picked up Walter and took him home, I’ve improved how we start the day and go through the routine of feeding, pooping, playing, sleeping…rinse and repeat. The repetition and constant improvement is a great experience, progress every day.

So that’s improvement.

Innovation – that’s where you make the totally insane decision in the first place to add a peeing, pooping, playing machine to your perfectly well-balanced and under-control life for no obvious reason. :)

Innovate – and then start improving before you’re covered in poo.
